What you are buying, how paying works, when you can cancel, and what each of us is responsible for. Written to be read, not skimmed past.

  • Access runs for 24 months from the day you pay.
  • You can cancel before your access begins. Section 5 explains exactly when that right ends.
  • No tutor, no marking, no certificate.

What we sell

We sell recorded video courses, and longer programmes made of several courses’ worth of lessons, about making and releasing music. Everything is recorded in advance and streamed to you over the internet. Nothing is taught live.

To be clear about what is not included:

  • no live teaching and no tutor;
  • no marking, grading or personal feedback on your music;
  • no downloads: lessons are watched in the course player and cannot be saved to your device;
  • no certificate, qualification or accreditation of any kind.

Access lasts 24 months from the date of your payment. When that period ends, your access ends. We email your access details to the address you gave at checkout within one working day of your payment being confirmed. If the email has not arrived by then, check your spam folder and then contact us with your order reference.

Each purchase is one licence for one learner, for your own personal learning. You may not share your access with anyone else, and you may not record, copy, capture, republish, resell or otherwise redistribute the lessons or any material shown in them. The lessons and everything in them remain the property of us or our licensors. If several people want to learn, each needs their own licence.

You will need a device with a modern web browser and a reliable internet connection. Streaming uses data, and we cannot be responsible for the quality of your connection. Music software, plug-ins and equipment are not included in the price; you provide your own.

Prices and payment

All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and are shown as they stand when you place your order. The total on your cart and on the checkout summary is the price you pay for the courses, with one possible exception: the optional currency conversion described below.

You pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay on a secure payment page run by our payment service provider. That provider acts as the merchant of record for the payment. You enter your card details on its page, not on ours, and we never see or store them.

The payment page may offer to show the price in another currency, and may add a currency conversion fee if you choose that. Any conversion and any fee are shown to you before you confirm payment.

We take care that prices are correct. If we discover an obvious pricing error after you order and before your access begins, we will tell you and you may either continue at the correct price or cancel and have everything you paid refunded. We may change prices at any time, but a change never affects an order you have already placed.

How an order works

The steps are: add courses to your cart; enter your details at checkout and tick the box confirming you agree to these terms; pay on the secure payment page; and return to your order page.

Your order page has its own link, which is permanent and personal to you. It shows the courses you bought and where your order stands, and it is your order confirmation. Anyone who has the link can open the page, so please keep it private. If you lose it, contact us and we will help you recover it.

Our contract with you is made when your payment is confirmed. Until then we may decline an order, for example because a course is no longer available or because we suspect fraud, and if we do we will refund anything already taken.

You must be 18 or over to place an order. If you are younger, a parent or guardian must place the order and accepts these terms on your behalf. Please give us a correct email address: it is how your access details reach you.

Your right to cancel

If you are buying as a consumer, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you 14 days to cancel a contract for digital content without giving a reason. The 14 days start the day after the contract is made, which is the day after your payment is confirmed.

For digital content that is streamed, that right comes to an end once we start to supply the content, as long as you have given your express consent to us starting and acknowledged that you lose your right to cancel when we do. When you tick the box at checkout and agree to these terms, you are doing both: you ask us to begin your access as soon as we can after payment, and you acknowledge that once your access has begun you can no longer cancel. We begin to supply the content at the moment we send you your access details.

Until your access details have been sent, you can cancel. To do so, tell us clearly by email or in the chat, for example “I want to cancel order EMG-0000000000”, using the reference on your order page. You do not have to give a reason. We will confirm, and refund everything you paid, to the card or wallet you paid with, without undue delay and in any event within 14 days of the day we receive your notice. We do not charge for refunds.

If, for any reason, your access began without your consent and acknowledgement as described above, you keep your full 14 days to cancel.

Once your access has begun, we do not refund a change of mind. That does not touch your legal rights if something is wrong, set out next.

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for its purpose and as described to you. If a course is faulty, for instance lessons are missing from the unit list on its page or will not play, or it is not as we described it, you are entitled to have it repaired or replaced. If that is not possible, or is not done within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience to you, you are entitled to a price reduction, up to a full refund. If faulty digital content from us damages your device or your other digital content because we failed to use reasonable care and skill, you may be entitled to a repair or compensation. Please tell us what went wrong, which lesson it was and what device you were using, and we will put it right.

These cancellation rights are for consumers. If you buy for a purpose related to your trade, business, craft or profession, you have no right to cancel under the 2013 Regulations and paragraph 5.5 applies from the start.

Using the courses and the website

You agree that you will:

  • use your access only yourself and keep your access details to yourself;
  • not try to download, capture or copy the lessons, or get round the way they are streamed;
  • not interfere with the website, its security or other visitors’ use of it;
  • not send abusive, unlawful or harmful content through the chat or by email.

If you seriously or repeatedly break this section we may suspend or end your access. We will tell you by email first where that is reasonable, and if we end your access for this reason the rest of your access period is lost. Your legal rights are not affected.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit or exclude. Nor does it affect the consumer rights described in section 5.

Otherwise, if we break these terms or are negligent, we are responsible for the loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result. A loss is foreseeable if it was an obvious consequence of our breach or if we and you both knew it might happen when you ordered. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable.

We sell courses for personal learning only. We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of revenue.

We are not responsible for delay or interruption caused by something outside our reasonable control, such as a failure of the internet, power or a third-party service. We will take reasonable steps to put things right as soon as we can, and if streaming is unavailable for a significant time because of an event like this, we will extend your access period by the same amount.

Education, not advice

Lessons about releasing music, rights, royalties, contracts, distribution and licensing are general education. They are not legal, financial or tax advice, and they cannot take your own circumstances into account. Rules and the terms of the services involved differ between countries and change over time, so before you sign or pay for anything, take independent professional advice. We also do not promise that you will finish a particular piece of music, release it, or earn from it. What you do with what you learn is up to you.

Changes to courses and availability

We may update our courses to correct errors, to keep them accurate or to improve them. If a change makes a course significantly worse than the one you bought, tell us and we will put it right, which may include a refund for the part of your access period remaining.

If we stop selling a course, you keep access to it until the end of your access period. If we are ever forced to remove a course you have already paid for before then, we will tell you by email and refund the part of the price that covers the access time you have not had.

We aim to keep the website and the course player available, but we cannot promise they will never be interrupted, for example during maintenance.

The version of these terms in force when you place an order applies to that order. We may change them for future orders and will show the date of the latest version at the top of this page.

Complaints and contact

If something is wrong, tell us first: write to hello@e-learningmasterygateway.co.uk or use the chat, and include the order reference from your order page. We answer on UK working days and aim to reply within one working day. If you are making a complaint, we will look into it properly and give you a full reply.

If we cannot settle a dispute between us, you can get free, independent advice from the Citizens Advice consumer service, and you remain free to take your claim to court. How we handle personal information is explained in the Privacy Policy.

Governing law and general terms

These terms and any contract made under them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring a claim in the courts of Scotland or Northern Ireland, and the mandatory consumer protections of that law continue to apply to you. If you live elsewhere, the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence also continue to apply.

These terms, together with the details of your order, are the whole agreement between us about what you buy. If any part of them turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not insist on a right straight away, we may still do so later.

You may not transfer your access to anyone else. We may transfer our rights and duties under the contract to another organisation, but only if that does not reduce your rights, and we will tell you if we do. Nobody who is not a party to the contract can enforce any of its terms.
